My name is Kristin Bauck and I have been teaching Language Arts in southwest Minneapolis since 2009.

I graduated from St. Olaf College with majors in English and music and attended the University of Minnesota for my Master’s Degree in Education. Before becoming a teacher I spent many years working at a local children’s bookstore (some of you may know of it as the store with the purple door and the chicken!) where I truly discovered my love of young adult literature and middle school learners.

As a Language Arts teacher I am passionate about fostering authentic inquiry and creative learning, helping my students to explore their identities and interests, using fun technologies, and making the classroom a joyful community. I ground my teaching by always considering what real-world readers, writers, and thinkers do.

When I’m not teaching I love to cook fresh food and explore local restaurants with my husband, walk our dogs around our beautiful lakes, and of course, read. Favorite books include: The Wednesday Wars, by Gary Schmidt; Dairy Queen, by Catherine Gilbert Murdoch; True (…Sort Of), by Katherine Hannigan; Graceling, by Kristin Cashore; Wonderstruck, by Brian Selznick; Found, by Margaret Peterson Haddix; Rash, by Pete Hautman…and so many more!
