Open House/Welcome Orientation and Curriculum Nights

Before school starts, in August, Ramsey opens its doors to families so that they can practice walking through schedules, quickly meet teachers, deliver school supplies (link to school supply list), reconnect with friends and get pumped for the school year.  We will have one night for the 6th graders and another for the 7th and 8th graders.   In September, at Curriculum Night, families will gather again at Ramsey to get to know more about the curriculum, grading, homework policy about each of their students classes.

Field Trips and Costs

At Ramsey, we believe that field trips are a great way to fulfill our mission.  The following are trips that are typically done and costs per student of each:

Family Nights

The PTA and Ramsey Family Engagement plan informative/social gatherings for families to connect with each other. They occur throughout the year.  Stay updated by reading the website and Around the Horn.

Report Cards

Final grades for each quarter are sent home via mail within a week or two from the end of the quarter. See website for most up-to-date information.

Concerts & Musical

Ramsey shows off its musical and acting prowess via a variety of ways. While the dates are not set yet, there will be concerts showcasing our choirs, bands and orchestras as well as a musical. Stay tuned to the website calendar for more information.

In January, students and teachers take a break from regular classes to explore topics of special interest in depth. These vary from year to year, but the purpose of Intersession is to engage learners through unique, project-based authentic learning experiences. Ramsey asks for about $20 to cover supply costs as well as a field trip that takes place during that week.

Starting at the end of March, students at Ramsey take the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCAs) in Reading and Math. Eighth graders will take the Science MCAs in mid-May. There are multiple sections, so a student may be taking the test for 3-5 days in a week in their classes. Students take the test on computers and are not timed. In addition to the MCAs, students will take the Scholastic Reading Inventory (SRI) in Literacy Class in the fall and spring to make sure they are placed in the most appropriate literacy class.

Interim Assessments are also required by the district for Math, ELA, and Science.  They happen about quarterly.
