Ramsey Staff Response to "13 Reasons Why"
Course Cards Due for 2017-2018 Registration

All course cards for current 6th and 7th grade students are past due. If you have not already submitted your course card for next year, please do so as soon as possible!

Calling All Overdue Books!

Currently, 332 Ramsey students have overdue books. Notices have been emailed to students, and handed out in advisories.

Students can also look online at any time to see what books they have out. To check on overdue books:

  • Go to Ramsey’s Destiny website.
  • Log in using the student’s school credentials (e.g. John Smith, class of 2021, has a user name of jsmi2101).
  • Once logged in, click on My Info near the top of the page. This will show all books currently checked out, overdue materials, and fines associated with the student.

All books should be returned by May 31. Please help your students locate and return their materials to the Ramsey Media Center!

Support for Renaming Ramsey

Ramsey’s Rename Campaign has been receiving a good deal of press and support!

The Minneapolis School Board discussed the rename campaign during their May 9 School Board Meeting, starting at around 3:12:48.

The StarTribune published an article covering the scope of the rename campaign on May 20.

Minnesota Public Radio broadcast a delightful interview with Alan Page on May 16.

Volunteers Needed for Spring Concerts

We still need parent volunteers to help with our spring concerts, especially chaperones. If your student is participating in any of these concerts, please sign up to greet or chaperone. Our great music teachers need your support to make these concerts run smoothly, and it’s fun to hear our Ramsey musicians show off their accomplishments from the year!

8th Grade Events - Volunteers Needed

Volunteers are needed to help celebrate year-end activities for our wonderful 8th Graders.

  • There will be a fun DJ-hosted dance, photo booth and concessions on Friday, June 9, and we need creative or simply enthusiastic parent volunteers to assist with the planning, setup and chaperoning of the dance. Volunteer at the 8th Grade Dance.
  • We also need some 6th and 7th grade parent volunteers to help set up and host the 8th grade family reception following the recognition ceremony on the last day of school. Volunteer at the 8th Grade Family Reception.

These events could not happen without your support. Thanks in advance for the help! Please contact Heidi Zimmer with any questions.

6th Grade Last Day of School Event

On June 14, we will throw our binders and pencils down and head to the field to celebrate! Students will participate in non-competitive games throughout the day, with a culminating Mega Soccer game on the Washburn field from 2:30-3:30.

Volunteers are needed either for a half day or all day. Volunteers would be paired with another volunteer to run a station (e.g. cup stacking, hula hoops, etc.). At the end of the day we will have an all grade 6 soccer game that will need parent participation and supervision alongside teachers. Sign up to volunteer here.

Treats for Teachers

Show our wonderful Ramsey staff how much they are appreciated by supporting "Treats for Teachers." Bring or send in a treat for the staff to enjoy on the first Wednesday of each month. Treats can be a simple bag of fruit, a veggie tray, baked goods, chips and dip or salsa, a family favorite, or anything you would like to send in! Contact Heidi Knaus with questions at or sign up for the last Treats Day of the school year.
