¿Qué tal? I am proud to say I am a Spanish teacher at Ramsey Middle School. I am new to the district this school year. I taught Spanish at Roseville Area Middle School and Roseville Area High School from 2011-2016. Prior to that I taught Spanish a k-6 charter school in North Minneapolis. I have also provided private tutoring and ran a small summer program for pre-school aged students as well. I am proud to say I have fully used my k-12 teaching license, but I am happiest in a middle school.
I too started taking Spanish class in middle school- Woodland Junior High in Duluth, MN. I continued to study Spanish through high school. Post high school, I lived and worked in México for two years. In 2003 I earned a BA from the University of MN in Spanish Studies. I worked in the business and finance world (using Spanish most of the day) for a few years post college graduation. I then returned to school and pursued a career in teaching. In 2007 I earned a Master's Degree of Education at Hamline University.
I am passionate about hearing the stories and voices of all people. I believe I came to realize this passion through learning to speak Spanish. I believe learning languages is a gateway to peace, love, understanding, and opportunities. I am excited to share this experience with all of my students.
When I am not working, I keep busy with my family- my husband Travis, daughter Isla, and son Otto. I love to cook and sample other's cooking. Like many Minnepolitans, I love to explore the city on the bike and running trails. As a Duluth native, I love a cold swim in Lake Superior as well. In the winter I like to skate, ski, sled, and listen to my record collection. If my schedule allows it, I love to see live music.
