Stephanie Shockley

Welcome to the 2017-2018 academic school year! I am so excited to be serving students at JPS!

I believe effective teaching and learning emphasizes inquiry, creativity, and shared experiences, as well as the individual assets each student brings to the classroom. My work revolves around supporting students in recognizing and developing their abilities, intelligence, imagination, and linguistic talent.

My journey into teaching began after graduating from Carleton College in Northfield, MN, with a degree in English Literature. From 2005 to 2009, I moved to South Korea, where I was born, to teach English as a Foreign Language. This experience with elementary and middle grade English learners greatly influenced my decision to pursue my license in ESL from Hamline University after returning to Minnesota. I am currently completing graduate studies in Curriculum and Instruction at St. Cloud State University.

My husband and I (and our Golden Lab) split our time between our home in South Minneapolis and a cabin in Osceola, Wisconsin. When I am not planning the next adventure with my students or being a student myself, you will find me buried in a book, spending time with my famiy and friends, and exploring the languages and cultures of the United States and the wider world.

I look forward to getting to know students and supporting them in developing and strengthening their English language skills! Please do not hesitate to contact me. The best way to reach me is by the email address below.
